Toyota Camry (XV70): Engine

ENGINE

HINT:

Perform these procedures after the engine has cooled down.

INSPECT DRIVE BELT

(a) Check the drive belt.

INSPECT ENGINE OIL

(a) Check the engine oil.

REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER

(a) Replace the engine oil and oil filter.

INSPECT COOLING AND HEATER SYSTEM

(a) Check that the radiator and condenser are not blocked with leaves, dirt or insects, and clean them if necessary. Also check the installation condition of the hoses and lines and the connecting parts for corrosion, etc.

INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT

(a) Check the engine coolant.

REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT

(a) Replace the engine coolant.

INSPECT SPARK PLUGS

(a) Check the spark plugs.

INSPECT BATTERY

(a) Check the battery.

INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT

(a) Remove the air cleaner filter element.

(b) Check that the air cleaner filter element is not excessively dirty.

If the air cleaner filter element is excessively dirty, replace the air cleaner filter element.

(c) If cleaning the air cleaner filter element, blow compressed air as shown in the illustration to clean it.

(d) Reinstall the air cleaner filter element.

INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS

(a) Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.

INSPECT FUEL TANK CAP GASKET

(a) Check the fuel tank cap gasket.

INSPECT FUEL LINES, CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BANDS

(a) Visually check the fuel lines and hoses for cracks, leaks, loose connections, or deformation.

(b) Check for tank band looseness or deformation.

INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER

(a) Check the charcoal canister.
