Toyota Camry (XV70): Vehicle Speed Information Communication Lost (C2178)

DESCRIPTION

The tire pressure warning ECU and receiver receives signals from the combination meter assembly via CAN communication. If a malfunction occurs in this communication line, DTC C2178 is output.

Communication between the combination meter assembly and tire pressure warning ECU and receiver is interrupted for 10 seconds or more.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

  • When replacing the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver, read the transmitter IDs and number of the transmitters (4 or 5) stored in the old ECU using the Techstream and write them down before removal.
  • It is necessary to perform initialization after registration of the transmitter IDs into the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver if the ECU has been replaced.

PROCEDURE

INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION)

(a) Perform On-vehicle Inspection of the meter/gauge system.
